Public appointments regional or Qualification based?

The recent cabinet nominations have ellicited different reactions from different groups especially regional bigwigs who claim to have been short-changed.

MPs from the Maasai community and Turkana led  by Joseph Nkaissery and Gideon Konchella claim that the list constitutes regional imbalanc. they argue that their communities ought to be given posts in the cabinet otherwise they will mobilize their supporters to shhot down the list in Parliament. leader ofg minority in parliament Jacob Midiwo has aalso challenged the list and Questioned the inclusion of Charity Ngilu.

Najib Balala at a Tourism Function
Some coast province leaders are also unmoved by the Mining industy given to former Tourism Minister Najib Balala claiming tghat he represents the Arabs at the coas and not the Mijikenda which according to formrer Kaloleni MP Mr. Kambi kazungu are the majority.

A question posed by these scenarios is if the cabinet secretary posts are to be filled in terms of regions or on basis of professional qualifications and experience. A look at the constitution reveals a free for all scenario.

There has been an outcry from certain quarters about the lack of a youthful Cabinet Secretary despite the Jubilee Digital-brand during the elections. this is amplified possibly by the scrapping of the initial ministry of Youths and Sports.

A keen eye is to be kept on how the standards of the elevated national schools are going to be uplifted to be at par with the existing ones.
The don is also going to handle the full-realization over 10 new universities chartered by Retired President Kibaki which are viewed by most students and critics with a lot of skepticism.;

Also if approved by parliament he is going to ioversee the implementation of the Jubilee government campaign promise of free laptops for primary school pupils.

But he doesn't lack controversy as students of the UoN are accusing him of being the most ineffective Dvc and are campaigning not only for his rejection but they prefer him sent home!

An election Boss

The late Samuel Kivuitu struggling with rowdy party representatives at KICC

Can all fault be attributed to an electoral boss in the event of flawed elections? Well, this seems to be the case considering the non-callous ouster of the late ECK chairman  Mr. Samuel Kivuitu.

Ringtone to head Youths?

Gospel sensation Alex Apoko aka Ringtone is headed for a turnaround in his career together with a few other new generation artists if the ongoing whispers are anyhing to go by.

Ringtone's song was used as the official Jubilee anthem and he alongside Jaguar performed in many rallies for the coalition. the two together with controversial news anchor turned religious Esther Arunga were the few  musicians invited at the statehouse luncheon after Uhuru's inauguration.

Jubilee government is set to unveil  a youth unit at the office of the president and the trio are highly expected to be at the  helm. this comes at an age when art, creativity and talent is being recognized and minting money  for those endowed.

Ringtone who probably has one of the hardest beginning in the music industry owing to his unfortunate background is on the verge of holding an office that no other predecessors in the industry has ever attained.

It will not be forgotten that he ran for a parliamentary seat at a  by-election expressin his interest in leadership. i an interview with zuqka he was put to test on his religious commitment & politics

How did you end up in politics?
I was tired of giving handouts on the roadside, that’s why I decided to seek an elective post in the government to help young people.
How did you afford to buy a Range Rover worth over Sh7 million, while you spent so much in the campaigns?
Honestly, after fundraising for my campaign, I used part of the money and saved some. After doing some calculations, I was able to buy my dream car when I didn’t win.
You are still in the political race?
Yes, now contesting in Nairobi’s Dagoretti North, since it’s closer for me and I will be able to attend to issues immediately.
Final message?
My fellow gospel musicians, let’s not let each other down. Let’s be real and support each other. We need to set a good example.

Museveni Lashes out, as Uhuru Takes Over

President Yoweri Museveni strongly accused foreign nations of meddling with sovereignty  of African states at a ceremony that marked the onset of the fourth president of the Republic of Kenya.
President Museveni addressing Kenyans

The president who spoke on behalf of invited heads of States, congratulated Kenyans for ignoring the 'ICC blackmail' and electing president Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto who are facing  charges at the court. He expressed his displeasure on what he termed as sending leaders  into 'legal gymnastics' in foreign land.

He reiterated that some powerful countries were using the international institution for their own agenda; as he put it "to install leaders of their choice and eliminate those they do not want." Mr. Museveni acknowledged the grave situation in Kenya during the 2007 elections aftermath but compared the handling to that of uganda's 10-year crisis where it lost over 800,000 citizens.

In a move that would be seen as to express his satisfaction with the election outcome and willingnes to work together with the jubilee government, Museveni revealed his lack of confidence in the ICC.

But, also not to be taken lightly is his comical..

FAILED CELIBACY OR UNQUENCHABLE AMBITIONS?

The catholic church is currently fighting a storm of defiance to the celibacy rule as a significant number of priests leave the church and opt to marry forming splinter churches which follow almost all doctrines except celibacy!

The priests claim that they are locked in archaic traditions that are impractical and they proceed to taint the oldest church's name by alleging that close to 80% of the clergy are not true to the oaths they so solemnly took! A certain Father Karimi of Kirinyaga county admits to have had multiple sexual relationships during his time of service of more than 12 years. others even say they had sex on  Saturday and proceeded to lead mass the next day to unsuspecting faithfuls who even come for advise on marital issues!

Truth of the matter is that the forging of a complete ordanined catholic priest is crafted in a manner that one is fully aware of the commitment that one is about to make. Its voluntary and free for all. the discourse occurs when one joins the profession without complete soul-searching or when personal ambitions overwrite intentions.

ANOTHER HOLIDAY!

Kenyans are being treated to yet another public holiday this year, just after an etxrapolated Easter weekend and this time round its fully enshrined in the constitution!

April fourth will see the president elect Uhuru Kenyattaand deputy president elect Wiliam Ruto sworn into office at Kasarani Sports Stadium as opposed to the usual state-house, making t6hem the first CEOs of the country to be elected under the new constitution.

moi sports centre Kasarani, where the swearing in ceremony is to take place
The outgoing president and the second president of the country are expected there with other former heads of states and sitting heads to witness the historic occassion. This comes with a back-drop of the coup in the Central African Republic which poses a challenge to the much yearned regional intergration.

However, despite the fact that Kenyans deserve a pat at the back for a peaceful election such public holidays do not portray the spirit of a working nation especially at this time of the year. This might be thought to be quiute outrageous but considering the extent of disruptions on the calender a weekday is the worst choice to have the event if the holiday is mandatory.

Assessing the impact of a holiday on work brings a better understanding..........................
